Polk County Auditor

Jamie Fitzgerald is currently serving his second full term as Polk County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections. He was appointed to the office in January 2007 to fill the unexpired term of Michael A. Mauro, who was elected Iowa Secretary of State.

Prior to his appointment, he worked as First Deputy Auditor and oversaw numerous technological upgrades, including have Board of Supervisor meetings audio recorded for the website, overseeing the creation of a bi-weekly newsletter and automating the property transfer index.

As Auditor, Jamie has continued to implement efficiency and used technology to benefit the public. All Board of Supervisor weekly meeting packets (which include the agendas, summaries and minutes) are placed on the website.

His office has also worked to place over one hundred years of Board meetings minutes online for the public to view. This not only creates historical transparency but also allows for a permanent backup copy of the data.

His office oversees all Elections in Polk County and maintains records for over 262,574 registered voters.
